VENETIANS
In Venice, the mask has shifted from a tool of subversion to a tourist commodity. Through Venetians, masked figures are depicted drifting through the city, blending with tourists and locals. Shot on black and white film, the series reimagines Carnival as a contemporary ritual that unsettles the roles of citizen, tourist, and performer.
Venetians was first exhibited as part of the Venice Biennale of Architecture through a photography book shown alongside the U.S. Pavilion, developed within a studio led by Amanda Williams.
